Today, we're going to talk about the importance of strength in golf.
First it would be appropriate to lay out how you need to be strong for the sport of golf.
- Strength determines your ability to produce force.
- For example, how far you can get the ball out there.
- Having adequate strength protects you from injury.
- If your strength is lacking in areas, mismatched from one side to the next etc, you are upping your chance for an injury.
The strength required for the athlete to be their best in sport of golf is very specific. Because golf is a unilateral and bilateral movement, strength in the lower body is super important. That is why we incorporate single leg and double leg exercises with pushing and pulling!
